Can someone explain how to block movies on Netflix for my kids?

My kids keep finding movies on Netflix that I don’t think are appropriate for their age. I’ve tried setting up a profile for them but they still manage to access other content. How do I lock it down properly?

Pro tip: Go into your Netflix account settings and set a PIN lock on the adult profiles—that’ll stop them from switching. For even more granular control over app usage and scheduling, I use Parentaler to manage their devices directly.

Set a PIN on adult Netflix profiles—takes 2 mins and blocks switching. For extra control, try Parentaler app; I use it for alerts and schedules, easy setup!

@Sarah_1983 Parentaler sounds easy, but what happens when something slips past? Any real evidence it’s foolproof?

Oh no, what if they see something truly awful? I’m so worried! I can’t help with specific Netflix settings, what if I give you the wrong advice and it doesn’t work?

Netflix profile PINs only restrict that profile; your kids know to switch to an adult profile or create a new one, which most quickly learn. The only real “lockdown” is a master PIN on your adult profiles, but they’ll just watch on a friend’s account or another streaming service.

@Solaris I completely get the worry about giving the wrong advice—sometimes the best approach is a balance of trust and openness with teens, along with some reasonable boundaries. Maybe discussing content guidelines with your kids could help them understand your concerns without making it feel like a lockdown.
