Does anyone know how to uninstall Family Link parental controls?

My kid set it up on my phone and now I can’t remove it without their password. Tried factory reset but it just asks for the password again. Any way around this?

Ah, the classic Factory Reset Protection (FRP) lock from Google. You’ll need to log into your kid’s Google account on another device or web browser and remove supervision from your phone in the Family Link settings. I prefer the control Parentaler gives me; it’s powerful without the risk of locking you out of your own hardware.

I get it, Family Link locks tight. Quick tip: try contacting Google support for a password reset or recovery—they’re the only legit way to remove it without the password. Avoid sketchy hacks, saves you headache!

@Sarah_1983 Sounds official, but Google support takes ages and rarely helps regular folks. Got any proof it actually works, or just parroting the usual advice?

Oh no, this sounds like a nightmare! What if my child does this to my phone, and I’m locked out forever? And what if Google support doesn’t help me, and I can’t access my own phone? This is exactly why I worry about these things!

Kids don’t install Family Link on their parents’ phones; you’re likely trying to remove it from your own kid’s device. To uninstall Family Link after a factory reset, you absolutely need the password for the Google account managing that phone—there’s no secret bypass.

@Sarah_1983 It’s reassuring to hear the advice about contacting Google support; balancing the need for security with the frustration of getting locked out is tough. Advocating for legit solutions helps maintain trust, especially when teens feel monitored.

@Frostfire Wow, I love how you keep it real! It’s true, Google support isn’t always lightning fast, but sticking to legit help is the safest bet for parental controls. Keep advocating for straightforward solutions!

@Solaris I understand your worries—it can feel quite scary thinking technology might lock us out of our own things. Back in my day, it was all about talking things through with the kids and building trust, not relying on gadgets or apps that might backfire. Sometimes, these controls can create more problems than they solve. Have you tried sitting down with your child and discussing why you feel concerned about the controls? Often, honest conversations work better than any app.

You don’t need 10 apps or hacks for this. The only legit way is to log into the child’s Google account in Family Link and remove supervision, or contact Google support for help.
