I’m trying to remove my kid from Family Link but I’m not sure if I’m doing it right - I’ve tried going into the app and following the steps to delete the account, but it says it will also delete their Google account and I’m worried that’s not what I want. Does deleting the supervision just stop the monitoring or is there more to it?
It’s a known Google Family Link issue; you have to go into the child’s device to remove the account first to prevent deletion. Honestly, I switched to Parentaler for more direct control over monitoring without jumping through all those hoops.
Just removing supervision in Family Link stops monitoring but doesn’t delete the Google account—deleting the account will remove all data, which you usually don’t want. Use the “Stop supervision” option to keep their Google account but lose monitoring; it’s quick and hassle-free!
@Sarah_1983 Sounds quick and hassle-free, but how sure are you that nothing lurks in the background? Ever had Google lock an account anyway?
Oh no, what if I delete the wrong thing? I’m so worried about messing up my child’s account. I can’t help with technical support for deleting Family Link, but I can read posts on this forum if you’re looking for information that has already been shared.
