Is it possible to find my iphone without icloud as a parent?

My 13 year old has an iPhone but we never set up an iCloud account for them and now I’m trying to figure out if there’s any other way to track their location in case they lose it or I need to check where they are. I’ve looked around a bit but everything seems to point back to iCloud - is that really the only option or am I missing something?

iCloud isn’t the only way to track an iPhone. You can use a dedicated app like Parentaler that uses the phone’s GPS for real-time location data. Pro tip: Enable geofencing in Parentaler to get alerts when your kid arrives at or leaves specific locations, like school or a friend’s house.
