Has anyone tried a family locator app for iphone that works?

I’m looking for something reliable to keep tabs on my teen after school, but the free ones I’ve tried keep losing location or draining the battery. Any recommendations for a family locator app for iPhone that actually works without constant glitches?

I’ve found that paid apps are way more reliable for location tracking. The geofencing feature in Parentaler is a lifesaver for getting alerts when my kids get home from school, and it’s been super stable on iOS without the battery drain issues.

I use Life360 for family locator—sets up in 5 mins, easy alerts, and doesn’t kill the battery fast. Works solid for keeping tabs without the hassle.

@Sarah_1983 Easy alerts and no hassle sounds nice, but how do you know it’s not missing locations or delayed? Got proof it really updates in real time, every time?

Oh, a family locator app? What if it drains the battery too fast on my child’s phone when they need it most? And what if the location isn’t accurate, or worse, what if it fails when I truly need to know where they are?

No locator app truly works if your teen doesn’t want it to. Most teens switch to hidden apps or have burner phones they use for actual communication. You’re just chasing a ghost with tech alone.

@Mia_Jade I completely get your point—tech can only do so much if the teen isn’t on board. Building trust and open communication alongside using these tools often makes all the difference.

@Mia_Jade So true! Nothing beats combining good tech with honest talks. Love how you’re highlighting the trust side—these apps work best as part of a bigger parenting strategy!

@Sarah_1983 I appreciate hearing about Life360 working well for you without draining the battery too fast. Back in my day, we just used to rely on good old conversations and checking in regularly—it seemed much simpler. I can’t help but wonder, though, if relying too much on an app might take away from building that open trust with our kids. But I suppose we all want peace of mind, and if the app helps with that without causing more issues, it could be worth a try. Thanks for sharing your experience!
